    Oil Pressure high or low (verify with gauge)

    Component:
    OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY
    check the pressure regulator valve
    the regulator valve spring
    a missing or miss assembled rotor guide
    a cracked rotor
    reverse boost valve/sleeve stuck or damaged or wrongly assembled
    orfice hole in pressure regulator valve stuck
    sticking slide or excessive rotor clearance
    pressure relief ball not seated or damaged
    porosity in pump cover or body
    wrong pump cover
    pump faces not flat
    excessive rotor clearance

    OIL FILTER
    intake pipe restricted by casting flash
    cracks in filter body or intake pipe
    o-ring seal missing/cut/damaged
    wrong grease used during last rebuild

    VALVE BODY
    manual vavle scored or damaged
    spacer plate/gaskets incorrect/misassembled/damaged
    face not flat
    2-3 shift valve stuck
    checkballs missing or misassembled

    PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID
    SYSTEM VOLTAGE
    PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
    CASE (case to valve body face not flat)

    possible codes:
    24 (VSS low)
    52 (VSS high)
    53 (system voltage too high)
    72 (VSS loss)
    73 (pressure control solenoid current)
    75 (system voltage too low)
    81 (2-3 shift solenoid circuit fault)
    82 (1-2 shift solenoid circuit fault)

    stuck pressure regulator valve
    sticking pump slide

    VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
    spacer plate/gaskets misassembled, damaged, or incorrect

    CASE
    porus or damaged valvebody pad
    2-4 servo assembly (porosity, damaged seals, apply pin damaged/improper length)
    2-4 band assembly (burned, anchor pin not engaged)

    TPS
    damaged/disconnected

    VSS
    damaged/disconnected/retaining bolt not tightened

    4WD low switch
    disconnected/damaged

    2-4 SERVO ASSEMBLY
    restricted or blocked apply passages case
    nicks or burrs on servo pin/pin bore in case
    4rth servo piston in backwards

    2-4 BAND ASSEMBLY
    2-4 band worn or damaged
    band anchor pin not engaged

    FORWARD CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
    clutch plates worn
    porosity or damaged forward clutch piston
    forward clutch piston inner and outer seals missing/cut/damaged
    input housing to forwad clutch housing o-ring missing/damaged
    damaged forward clutch housing
    forward clutch housing retainer/ball assembly not sealing or damaged

    FORWARD CLUTCH ACCUMULATOR
    piston seal missing/damaged
    piston out of it's bore
    porosity in the piston/valve body
    stuck abuse valve

    INPUT HOUSING AND SHAFT ASSEMBLY
    turbine shaft seals missing/damaged

    VALVE BODY
    1-2 accumulator valve stuck
    face not flat, damaged ring lands, or interconnected passages
    spacer plate/gaskets incorrect/missing/damaged

    LOW ROLLER CLUTCH
    damaged to lugs/inner ramps
    not free moving
    not enough spring tension
    damage to inner splines
    lube passage plugged

    TORQUE CONVERTER
    stator roller clutch not holding

    1-2 ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBPLY
    porosity in piston or accumulator cover/pin assembly
    damaged ring grooves on piston
    piston seal missing/damaged
    valve body to spacer gasket at accumulator cover missing/damaged
    leak between piston and pin
    broken 1-2 accumulator spring

    LINE PRESSURE

    3-4 piston checkball stuck, damaged, or not sealing
    restricted apply passages
    forward clutch piston retainer and ball assembly not seating
    sealing balls loose or missing

    3rd accumulator retainer/ball assembly not seating

    2-4 SERVO ASSEMBLY
    2nd apply piston seals missing/damaged

    plugged or missing orfice cup plug

    CASE
    3rd accumulator retainer/ball assembly leaking
    porosity in 3-4 accumulator piston or bore
    3-4 accumulator piston seal/seal grooves damaged
    plugged/missing orfice cup plug
    restricted oil passage

    cup plug missing
    restricted oil passage
    faces not flat
    converter clutch valve stuck

    VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
    2-3 shift valve stuck
    manual link not adjusted
    spacer plate/gasket incorrect/mispossitioned/damaged
    low overrun valve stuck
    orficed cup plug restricted/missing/damaged

    REVERS INPUT CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

    spacer plate/gaskets incorrect/damaged/mispositioned

    INPUT CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
    turbine shaft oil passages plugged/not drilled
    turbine shaft seal rings damaged
    turbine shaft sealing balls loose ormissing
    porosity in forward or overrun clutch piston
    overrun piston seals cut or damaged
    overrun piston checkball not sealing

    No Torque COnverter Clutch Apply

    INSPECT

    ELECTRICAL
    12 volts not supplied to trans
    outside electrical connector damaged
    inside electrical connector/wiring harness/solenoid damaged
    electrical short (look for pinched solenoid wires)
    solenoid not grounded

    TCC SOLENOID

    ENGINE SPEED SENSOR

    CONVERTER
    inernal damage

    ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

    OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY
    converter clutch valve stuck/assembled backwards
    converter clutch valve retaining ring mispositioned
    pump to case gasket mispositioned
    orfice cup plug restricted/damaged
    solenoid o-ring seal damaged
    high/uneven bolt torque (pump body to cover)

    TRANS FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR

    INPUT HOUSING AND SHAFT
    turbine shaft oring damaged
    turbine shaft retainer/ball assembly restricted/damaged

    BRAKE SWITCH

    PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
    tcc signal valve stuck
    solenoid oring leaking

    SOLENOID SCREEN
    blocked

    POSSIBLE CODES
    21 (TPS high)
    22 (TPS low)
    28 (Fluid pressure switch assembly fault)
