Yea there has not been any for me since I put the charger on. I dont want to take any chances of sucking something up. I worry a bit the way it is now.

Alright, I will do that. How long do I have until you need to make a decision? Why would you buy an LS1 car that cant haul anything, doesnt get as many looks, and damn sure doesnt have a 454 in it?? :)

haha because i made the mistake of test driving a 2000 camaro SS 6 speed and hit 80 mph halfway up a freeway onramp. i was thinking about getting one after i head home for the summer, but the idea of keeping the truck and supercharging it down the road is inviting too. but gas mileage on an LS1 is a lot better.

You would be surprised actually with the gas mileage of the 454's and a charger. Mine does really well when I keep my foot out of it. It can hold itself in OD longer and more of the time since its got almost twice as much power. Yesterday I towed our racecar about 90 miles and didnt even burn a quarter tank. The supercharger built boost once, otherwise it was on the vacuum side the whole time.

Yes, they are in. I could tell a little bit of a difference. The main thing was to get all the fuel and injection working in unison. I stepped the alky nozzle up to what they recommend which is a 12.0 gph setup. I have it progressively coming on at 3lbs of boost and up. With everything working together the truck performs unbeleivably well. With the bigger injectors it blows some black smoke out the exhaust when I mash it to the floor. Definately confuses the oil burners. haha

    Re: 96-99 454 Vortec owners?

Alright, new issue....transmission. So I was sitting at the stoplight today and a cummins pulled up next to me. A lowered, blackout 4 door dodge cummins with a single stack coming out of the bed. I didnt think anything about it. Finally I heard his engine rev up once, so I knew he meant business. I hit my 4x4 HI button and held my foot on the brake and gas. Light turned green and I was off. Bout 2 truck lengths ahead of him by 50mph. I looked down and the trans was still in first, I was turning 4800 RPM's. I ran it until 5600 and it still hadnt shifted. I let of the gas real quick and into second it went. Needless to say it wont shift unless I take my foot off the gas for a second and then I can lay back into it. Any ideas on how I can get around this or would a different tune be able to take care of this???

By the way, the diesel was very impressed. Turns out he ran a 13.89 at the track that day and wanted to see what he got beat by. His eyes got about the size of coconuts when he saw a Big block was under the hood and not a diesel. :)

I am not a 100 percent sure. Since i depise automatics and wont buy another car with one. But I think your trans uses tps, speed sensor etc to tell it when to shift. If the trans is healthy still then i would check into these items. What year is the truck in question?

    Re: 96-99 454 Vortec owners?

All depends on the PCM tune, there is 2 limits, rpm and speed. So if you don't hit both, no shifty.

But it is shifting ok at part throttle?

One thing too, the faster you go the earlier you need to plan the PCM to shift, things are happening fast, For me on my LT1 I have to shoot for a 4900-5000 rpm shift point to guarantee I am shifted by my self imposed rpm limit of 5400. (why? just because I can rev to 6000 rpm doesn't mean it is faster, the car is actually SLOWER when I shift higher, so I needed to shift lower to make the car not pass up peak power with the little cam, the L29 454 stock cam needs the same help too).

If you need help with the PCM, give me a scream. Gotta take some time to try to dial in the shift points for sure.

BTW: Nice run! But be careful of going lean! I'll try to get some time to study my 4L80E stuff....

The truck is a 1998. The transmission is as healthy as can be. I am running the new dextron 6 full synthetic and it which made a world of difference on trans temp and shifting. I need to figure out how to get it to shift around 3200-3500. That would be perfect since these motors are not a upper rpm motor.

Is there anywhere to find any good sound clips, or do any of you guys have any?
Im looking to open up the exhaust some, but not looking to be very loud, louder than stock is ok, but not a ton.

Also have a exhaust leak right before one of the cats and our local exhaust guy says it needs to be replaced, anyone have a quite exhaust without the cats?

well i have a couple sound clips of dynomax bullets on mine but they are loud as crap and can be too much in the higher rpm's so i dont think thats what youre looking for.

I do not have any for mine yet. I need a day here in missouri with decent weather. our weather has been nothing short of crap. rain one day, snow the next, and 60 the next. so its just finding the right day. the sound clip will more than likely come from the burnout and acceleration videos i upload for heavy. since someone here wants to go and get a ls1. haha

Just think, you can't take a Maro off road! Nor pull a 10K trailer! But the mpg is hard to beat too....

yea buttttt.... its also a truck. chicks dig the trucks. especially when you pull up with the rumble of a BB under the hood, the whine of a SC, and the smell of 110 race gas (provided you run alky injection) its a beautiful thing.
