    Hey all, I'm getting ready to replace the flexplate in my 95 ECSB and at the same time replace my tranny filter. How many quarts of fluid do the 4L60e's need??

    so your just dropping the pan and replacing the filter? If so, 5 quarts atf. You may wanna dump 4 in and let it get nice and hot then see where the level is at.

    Well, I'm actually taking the whole tranny out to replace my flexplate so I'll probably end up losing most of my existing tranny fluid. So will it be closer to 11 qts then or will it not be that much?

    Well if the tranny was drained dry, then yes it would be 11 quarts to fill it. After you get it down and out and back in place, I would add maybe 6 or 7 quarts and then let it get up to temp. Once the tranny is hot keep adding fluid and checking the level till its up to full. The pan holds about 5, and then however much drains out from the internals..so just add slowly and keep checking the level.
