    Hi guys!

I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.0 gas engine with manual 5 Speed Transmission. It has 34k miles on it.

What have you folks done to fix this problem? No codes are in the ECM! I don't have an K&N air filter in the truck.

    Thanks Lee Stroud!

have you recently replaced the battery/disconnected it?
can you explain the rough idle?

It makes the truck shake a little and the gear shift wobbles a little. It like has an uneven idle.

Do you think with only 34k miles it could be the plugs?

With 34000mi and 2 years old i would get it into the dealer. You paid for the truck and got a warranty why not use it.

if the battery is disconnected for longer than like 10 min the short term memory of the pcm is deleted, and when you first crank it up after that it must relearn things such as idle, and it will idle rough and erratic for a few minutes

    doubt its the plugs,

My 03 is doing something similar, it was running pretty rough and throttle was very touchy, pulled the plugs out and they were worn/burnt to over .80'ths

New ac delco iriduim or however its spelled, Crane's 25 Ohm wires (lowest resistance wires made at summit for like 39 dollars) Now it starts smooth, throttle is perfect, runs smooth and dead quiet but i still get some little spikes and random rough spots as it idles.

I'm wondering if my timing isn't geting messed up from a bum knock sensor. Maybe tomorrow i'll try to put a light on it and see what the timing does during this crap.

Anyone else have this problem? Please share if you do or have had a problem. What did you do to fix it?

A lot of dealers say it is normal.

    Thanks Lee!

i dont know if it's the same problem or not, but i feel like my truck has an idle problem as well. like for instance if i hit the gas just once quick, when the idle comes back down, it goes down to about 2-300 RPM, and one time it even stalled. its a 2003 6.0 2500HD, i think it might be normal for these trucks, but even if its normal, i still dont think its right?

I have an 04 2500 not an HD with the 6.0 and I am having the same problem. Only 38k on the clock. I was told most of them do that also.

On the electronic throttle setups, 2003 and up, having a dirty throttle body will cause a bad idle or even stalling. If your truck stalls or you can sit and watch the tach and see the needle moving, you have a problem. Pull the intake boot off and clean out the bore. The electronic throttles dont have IAC motors, they actually hold the throttle blades open maybe 6 or 7% to get the idle. If your throttle body is all carboned up, it wont get as much air and it wont idle right. Usually fixes an idle problem on that style truck everytime, especially with that low miles

we have a lot of 6.0 HDs at my job and you will feel a tiny hiccup or spike every now and then, but if you see the tach moving or it stalls then its worth getting into

I have cleaned the throttle body. It helped a little.

I Have 1,510 engine hours on the clock with 36,657 hours on the odometer.

I wonder if I should change the plugs with AC Delco Iridium or NGK

    What do you all think?

    Thanks Lee Stroud!

It would be a good idea to check'em but I doubt if replacement is necessary, but reading them might give ya a clue as to a misfireing cylinder and checking that cylinders fuel injector, plug wire and coil pack. Should be a DTC though. You ain't no kin to Les Stroud the Survivorman are ya.

I know this thread is a little old now, but i just replaced my fuel pressure regulator (due to a very good mechanic friend) and it fixed my problem. litteraly 10 minutes after I got the part it was installed and running perfect.

    part costs about 90$ though.

apparently is very common with these GMs
