Besides going to a weigh scale, how do it know how much my truck weighs, does anyone have a ball park figure? Its a 2002 2500HD 6.0 4x4 CCRB. The GVWR is 9200 pounds. I'm not sure how much to subtract to get the actual weight. Thanks for the help.

2004 Oynx Black Crew Cab Z-71, 5.3L, 3.73, Gibson Headers, Dual Flows, Wheatley Tune, Vette Servo, K&N 77 Series, FAL Fans, ASP Pullies, 34 inch Radiator.
My truck is at 5700lbs, but it is a 2wd extcab, so I would say yours is in the 6000lbs area.
2001 Burban 3/4 ton-SOLD
68 Camaro (still building)
95 Camaro Supercharged and other stuff-SOLD
2006 2500HD Silverado LS ExtCab 2WD 6.0L
I pulled against a 2002 ecsb duramax 4x4 last weekend and he said he weighed in at 6300lbs, so I would think yours is in the 6500lb area.
'96 Chevy K1500HD ECLB, 385,000km and still goin strong...ish, Rebuilt 355 w/4L60e on its last legs
'07 Pontiac G5, Wifes Blurple commuter, 97,000km
78/80/93 GMC in many pieces and places waiting for time and effort.
So i think its safe to say I weigh about 6000 lbs. The duramax should be heavier than me even though its an extended cab. Thank you everyone for your help.
You should weigh around 5,900 lbs. Look at the cargo rating sticker in the glove box for starters. Then multiply the number of seating posistions times 150. Add that to the weight on the cargo sticker and subtract from 9200. This will be the weight of the truck when it left the factory. For example, My cargo sticker says 2723 and my truck hold 5 passengers.Originally Posted by firefighter37
Take 5x150=750. 2723+ 750 = 3473. 9200- 3473 = 5727 which is whithin 5 lbs of what the scale said when I weighed mine. I have done it with my 1/2 tons as well so I know it is accurate.
Ok so my cargo rating on my 1998 GMC 1500 6 cylinder 5 speed 2wd rcsb is 1708 lbs. According to your calculations my truck weighs 7042 lbs. I think something is wrong with your calculator.... Just saying....
Again, 9200 is not a constant in the calculation.
By the calculation above my truck weighs 5813 lbs empty. Maybe it did, I have no idea.
The only thing I see is the cargo weight and seating capacity thing. I can find nothing that mentions rated seating capacity for my truck but I know it's 6 because it was a crew with a 40/20/40 front originally and my cargo rating is 1887 lbs. Now the exact same truck could have come with buckets and console, dropping the legal seating capacity to only 5. I wonder then if a bucket seat crew cab truck then has a 2037 lb cargo rating? To make this anywhere near accurate, it should.
