    Re: Gas Tank Capacity

My 98 says a 26 gallon tank. But I only ever put in 15 to bring it back to full from just under 1/4tank? I've had it on E and only took 18 or so.

yep same with me. The needle is way off I believe so when it says empty, you have a hell of a lot more. The most I ever put it in 22 gallons.

If you dont like changing fuel pumps do not make a habit of going lower than 1/4 tank.

X2 and if it is a short box the tank is 26 gallons and if it is a long box it is 34 gallons.

    Re: Gas Tank Capacity

When I installed a new tank in my buddies 93 chevy 1500. It was a 32 gallon tank and it took 5 gallons of gass just to submerge the pump, when we looked on the gauge it was still on E. I talked to a GM tech and he informed me that it was designed that way to keep the pump from burning out.

    Re: Gas Tank Capacity

I have found that when I think my tank is full, I can get an extra 4 to 5 gallons in it by shaking the truck a bit while slowly adding more gas.

    Anyone elso notice this?

shouldnt require shaking the truck, almost all of my 34 gallon tanks have been like this. the 24 gallon tanks will typically take about 3 more. though its not good for it, as you need the room in the tank for the EVAP system to work properly, that's the reason it shuts off when it does.

You're probably going to f*ck up your charcoal cannister or your evap vent-shut valve.
