I have a 2000 Chevy 5.3L and have a coolant leak. I noticed I would have a puddle of Antifreeze on the floor in the morning. Last night I put the truck up on the ramps so I could see were it was leaking. This morning I can see that it is leaking from the front of the block but I cant see were it is coming from. The water pump looks dry from what I can see. What is the common places for it to leak on this truck?

I agree with Dave, mine was leaking about a year ago it was the gaskets, so I put a new pump on at the same time.

My 99 Sub had intake manifold gasket problem. The coolant would pool right above the water pump after the motor was run and shut down. So, I would not have a puddle on the ground, mainly because it would burn off due to the heat of the engine. But what did remain was pooled above the water pump. After the intake gaskets were replaced I had no more problems.

I hope in your case it is just the water pump gasket, a lot cheaper fix.

How can you tell if it is leaking from the Intake?

On a NBS,NNBS Chevy Truck the intake has no coolant running through it. Its just air.

    EDIT: JUST THE V8s
MY V6 IS LEAKING COOLANT FROM THE INTAKE GASKETS

there is a square drive plug on the block or head (can't remember) on the front driver's side of the engine that i've seen several leak out of. tighten it up, and it goes away.

mine was the water pump gaskets and I've seen many other 5.3's and 6.0s that did the same.

What is the best brand of water pump? Would a duralast from autozone be OK? Looks like they are around $130.
