Why do TBI intake gaskets have coolant passage restrictor holes?

I am putting a rebuilt gen I SBC under the TBI setup in my 88 K1500. I have several sets of fel pro regular SBC intake gaskets that I was intending to use. However, I see after pulling the intake from the 350 TBI in the K1500, that it has metal restrictor plates in the rear coolant passages. What is the purpose of these restrictors, and do I have to use them when I put the new engine in? Or is it fine to use regular SBC intake gaskets with the TBI manifold, with no restrictors?

    Thanks

Im just guessing, but isn't that where the heater hose is connected? The restirctor is probably to limit the amount of flow through the heater core to get the proper pressure and temp drop across the coil.
