hey i have a 94 z71 5.7L that will die at idle or after i let off the fuel peddal while coming to a stop or corner but it only does it sometimes after it dies it takes a whole lot of cranking with my foot to the floor to get it started again and have to keep the rpm's up to keep it running then the next corner or stop i come to it dies again unless i put it in nuetral and keep the rpm's off idle
the check engine light is on it is code 43 knock sensor circuit not thinking that that would make it stall but just before it does stall the check engine light goes off then all dash warning lights come on then engine light comes on again
    what i've changed
    fuel pump
    fuel filter
    iac
    coil
    ecm
anybody have any idea's???? please !!!!!! help!!!
this thing is really starting to piss me off lol

The knock sensor may be doing it. I had a 91 Corsica, different fuel system, but it went bad. Driving or at idle it would surge real bad. changed the sensor ran great.
Don't remeber if you can test the knock sensor or not. It should be cheap if you want to try to replace it. Not hard to do.
How does your air filter look? When was the last time the throttle body was rebuilt? Kit cost about 30 or 40 bucks. It also comes with a FPR which could be part of your problem. Good time to clean your TBI too.
I would also check your timing.

IAC valve, may be dirty or slow to react, clean it first but you may wind up replacing it. post back with the results please.

Re: 94 5.7L TBI dies at idle or when coming to a stop

have the timing checked.. make sure that the idle advance wire (can't remember if that's the name or not) is disconnected.. check your distributer for moister/play.. you shouldn't be able to turn it because that bolt should be tight enuff to hold it..

do you have lifters ticking or other noise under the valve covers? the knock sensor senses spark knock.. it can be very sensitive and retard the timing for things like that.. could also be bad gas.. have you eaten a burrito lately?? or more appropriately taken it to a diff gas station? or the cheapest gas station around?

edit: forgot to add - check the wire that connects to the knock sensor.. mine is located almost at the bottom of the engine..it's a 1 pin connector in mine... behind the oil filter.. "ish" i had a bad connector and they are notoriously so.. if you do change the knock sensor change that connector as well

Re: 94 5.7L TBI dies at idle or when coming to a stop

i checked the timing it's good it has been doing this since the end of last winter so i have been to many different gas stations so bad gas is out the knock sensor i unhooked completely and it did;nt make a differens
i really think it's the iac i did change it and it did run good for a couple days but it was from a junk yard i unscrewed the iac a bit from the throttle body just until it started to rev up a bit and it hasn't died since well until it screwed it self back in then it did but a little adjustment and a way i went

YES! exactly what I was going to say, buddy had the same problem, I replaced that and it was fixed, when it fails the truck thinks its VERY cold out and over compensates for it.

Just a suggestion, recheck your ignition coil and also check to see if the plug gaps are in spec and to see if there's any carbon fouling on them. I had a similar problem on one of my vehicles and found out that there was too much gap on the plugs. Regapped the plugs to spec and problem gone.

Re: 94 5.7L TBI dies at idle or when coming to a stop

I know I am really late on this one, But wasn't the ECM showing any codes? I figured that if the ECT was at fault it should have registered a DTC 14 or equivalent. But the bottom line I have the same problem and ran across this forum. It's so funny, but with the ECM you should know right away what sensor is causing the problem. The Problem I have, a truck I'm working has been so abused that I'm not sure that the ECM is still my friend. I just started changing sensors just to show the ECM that I was a friend. But I will admit that I stopped short on the ECT. But what the hell I'll put that one on the list as well and see if I can get Harmony back to this Rig. If it works then I want to thank the ones who came before me who was nice enough to document their history of the same problem that I'm having now!
