it is right behind the starter on the passenger side...unfortunetly you have to remove the starter to take the sensor off.

Did you ever figure out your overheating issue.

To the origanl poster, check the wire running to it as they are usually the culprit...

I've never had to remove the starter to get to them......................

They are on the passenger side of the block, about half way from front to back, and right above the oil pan gasket

I was wondering why I cant see it. I will remove my starter and look.

No I have not figured out my overhaeting issue.... I found a crack in my radiator, maybe that is causing it.

I am having the same problem, but I can not trace the wire back to replace it. Can you tell us how to replace?

Is the knock sensor in a water jacket where coolant will come pouring out when it's removed?

It's exactly where the picture shows it. No need to move the starter, no need to drain the coolant.

Sqeeze the plastic connector on the elongated ends and wiggle it off. Look at the wire end of the connector, if the wire looks frayed or the inside looks nasty, (mine was full of oil) now's a good time to go to your auto parts store and get a new plug and wire connector. Pack dielectric silicone in the wire connector before insertion of wires.

You may want to LOOSEN the knock sensor while the engine is still warm with a 7/8" deep socket, but DO NOT REMOVE YET! Wait til the engine is COLD. Wear eye GOGGLES or FULL FACE protection, coolant will be streaming out. Have a wide container to catch the splattering coolant.

Pack dielectric silicone in the electric connection of the NEW knock sensor and plug. Have the new knock sensor ready in one hand and remove the old knock sensor with the other. If you can swap them out on the first try, you may lose a cup or two of coolant. Tighten it up good. Push the plug on til you hear it pop into place and zip tie any loose wire. Fill with fresh coolant. Enjoy the more horse power! And maybe some of the other anomalies that you couldn't figure out disappear too.

While you're doing this, disconnect your negative lead to the battery. This will reset your computer and turn off the SES light.
