Failed the emission test today. They couldn't read the obd2 system for some reason in my 04 5.3. Tried it at home with my scan tool and it wouldn't communicate either. I checked the fuses and they all seem to be fine. Any where else to look besides wiring? anybody got a wiring diagram or know what I should trace it to?

No fuse is fine. Checked it and even replaced it with another fuse just to make sure it wasn't a faulty one. No luck.

What kind of scanner is it? My Snap On will not work unless I put the right personality key in it. I assume you checked it to make sure it will work on another vehicle.

I'd check the connection to the OBDII receptacle. Is the scanner getting power? Find a wiring diagram and see if you can check continuity between the receptacle and further down CAN channel.

Well finally got down there looked at it. The orange wire was sliced for some odd reason. Somehow must have got cut by something sharp. spliced it together and it works just fine.
