    Radiator size question

Ok, it looks like my radiator has sprung a leak. So I go online to price them and you either get a 34" or 28" core. My radiator measures 34" outside edges of the plastic end caps. And like 29 1/2" where the end caps meet the core. So it would seem like the 34" would be it because its the only measurement thats dead on. A 28" core should be pretty darn close, but its not. So which one is it?

    Thanks in advance

All of the GM truck radiator applications that I have ever seen measure the radiator size across the core only and do not include the tanks. GM truck radiators are held in by the rubber mounts that fit on the ridge where the tank and core header meet making the tank size unimportant.

I would think with the 350, it's more than likely *supposed* to have a 34" radiator. One thing you can do is go to an auto parts website and look up your model and the radiator and get the specs from there to see if they compare. I have a '95 with the same engine and the radiator in mine was a 34" core width. When I replaced it I actually went for the thicker dual row core because it was almost the same price. Hasn't let me down, but it took a ridiculous amount of coolant to fill.

Now there is a reasonable answer. Then it would appear that I would have a 28" core. I thought it was odd though that it was like 29 1/2".Maybe I was a little off with my tape measure and where the core/tanks meet. But I know for sure its 34" outside to outside tanks. So it must be 28". That's all that's left.
