ok to start off with, I took my truck to a few tranny shops a few months ago and and most said my 2-4 band was going out cause 1-2 shift wasn't hard anymore. another said I had low trans pressure so I tried turning the pressure up on the selenoid and that didn't help. well I pulled my truck out of storage again today and cleaned the engine bay and went to drive it around the block and I have to shift it manually and I only have 1st and 2nd, no 3rd or4th. but when I shift manually from 1st to 2nd it hits hard like it use to. what could this be? bad computer? wiring, selenoid? this trans is starting to piis me off. when I narrow down one problem, that problem acts normal and another shows up. any ideas?
info on trans. 4l60 with 5 pinion planetaries, 9 pack 3-4 clutches, corvette servo, and stock verter.

no the fluid is dirty, but when I parked it 3-4 gears were working just fine. this is the first time its moved since then and I have to shift manually to get 2nd gear. trying to go into third it just wont even shift. I think the computer might be the issue, not 100% on that tho. the 3-4 clutches are the 9 pack raybestous. I've never had an issue with slipping or anything. I still have some time to go pick up a computer and try that, maybe my custom chip got shorted out.

go here for troubleshooting:

using the above guide check for 12vdc going to the transmission if not check fuzes and wiring.

ok I just found out even tho the CEL didn't come on it still has codes there. and here they are.

I had the same prob once upon a time and it was the PCM not commanding the trans to shift

ensure the problem isnt in the transmission or wiring to transmission before replacing the computer.

I just replaced the computer so now I know it has to be in the trans. it still has the same issue. the only thing I did to the truck before it sat was adjust the pressure solenoid up a bit, could that cause the shift solenoids not to work? could the trans have too much pressure and create error codes?

its possible or could be the wiring in between. should of used a line pressure guage to confirm line pressure was in spec. now your gonna have to check the wiring and selenoids. was the wire harness replaced in the transmission?

I believe so, but that was 2 years ago. its just wierd, work when I parked it, now it wont. someone said it might be in limp mode since I get 1st and 2nd and for 3rd it just revs. I sure hope I don't need a rebuild.

thanks NEUMANNZZ I found the problem it was the TPS not working right. but it never threw a light so it was a shot in the dark and I was shaking my head cause I'm an idiot for not checking it first. the trans still doesn't shift hard into 2nd like it should so here in a few weeks I'm gonna change the pressur solenoid and flush the trans with a new filter too. that should fix that problem I hope.lol

when my '97 was taking off in 2nd and had no converter lockup it ended up being the 1-2 gear solenoid blowing up, one of my trans cooler lines was kinked and I guess that caused the solenoid to blow up.
