Will the rear end from a 93 fit a 99

Hi, I'm trying to replace the rear end on my 93 silverado. The rear end is shot and I found a 99 rear end same gears (3.73) as my truck but it has disc brakes (bonus). I need to know if it will fit naturally or if there will be modifications needed (beside brake lines) to mount it up. Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.

It's been a while but I think the spring perches/shock mounts have to be moved.

Very possibly need to be moved. Although I did measure a newer 03 C1500 6.0 9.5" 14-bolt SS rear end today and it matches the spring perches and axle width on a 97 Express, so atleast some things stayed the same. Although I will have to relocate the shock brackets and bump stops. Just saying it can be done, but it might be more trouble than it is worth.

You need to be a lot more specific.
    A 93 1/2 ton 3/4 ton or 1 ton.
    A 99 1/2 ton 3/4 ton or 1 ton. Or suburban/Tahoe/Yukon?

98 was the last year of your body style, 95 and 96 were the big changes. Different interior, mirrors, grill, then different motor trans.
However if you have a 3/4 or 1 ton it would be the same body up to 2000.
If a 1/2 ton a suburban or Tahoe rear will fit.
2wd and 4wd need to be the same. (if yours is 2wd you need a 2wd rear)

So what do you have? And what is the new axle out of?

also in 99 you could still get a 98 style, called a "classic" came in 1/2ton 2 or 4 wheel.

Re: Will the rear end from a 93 fit a 99

I have a 93 1/2 ton silverado 4wd k1500 p/u and the new rear end is from a 99 silverado 1/2 ton 4wd p/u. I also was wondering what changes will need to be made to accomodate the fact that the new rear end is disc brake. Thanks again, the help is invaluable as I've only been working on my own vehicles for a couple years now and have yet to really do anything major aside from replacing stock parts with stock parts.

spring perches mainly, yeah,. alot or most of the 8.5" truck housings have two sets of perch mounts welded to the tubes though

    almost always.

i dont think ive seen one without two sets them actually

a tape measure will answer for you real quick

I think that second set of spring perches you're talking about are just bump stops.

    disc brakes it's new style.
I would agree I have never seen any axle with 2 sets of spring perches. 2nd set should be bump stops.
