hideaway gooseneck?

I am in need of a hide away gooseneck hitch for my 2500hd I have been needing one for a while and I have been trying to decide on what to go with if anybody has any info and pics on gooseneck hitches I would really appreciate it.

A little late on this thread but all we use is B&W turnover ball. They are great unlees your ball is flipped over with about an inch of ice in your bed, then its a pian to get it flipped back over. They are great and really strong, bolt directly to the frame, takes about an hour to install.

We had a hideaway, not sure of the brand, in our old Dodge but the bugger seized from lack of maintenance. Our Silvy has one of those removable ones that locks into plates in the bed. It's a nice product, imo.

You will hate it. I have one in my dodge and granted its strong its a pain. You get anything like rock or sand, barkdust, anything at all down inside the body of the turnover and have fun flipping it. And like said ice is a pain. I prefer the fold down style and having a custom dual crossmember style mount built for it. The mounts you can buy are cheesy IMO. Checkout atwood, valley, or curt they all make a good folding style hitch. I have used both atwood and valley alot but never used the curt inbed folding hitch. Their other products are excellent so I would assume no different about their fold down hitches.

I have never had a problem with my B&W, and you can get the fifth wheel hitch to go with it so that youo dont have any extra mounts in your bed.

I suppose if you left it in and towed all the time it wouldn't be bad. But constantly swapping it up and down with stuff in the bed, gets clogged. The turnovers are alot more user friendly and IMO way less of a hassle.

You could always get 5th wheel rails, and get the goosneck hitch for them. Thats what my dad has, because we have a 5th wheel, and he's pulled a gooseneck with it.

I work at a truck accessory shop and we sell and install many different kinds. The only one we personally use and the one we have the most customer happines and the least customer complaint with is the B&W turnover.

If your worried about getting sand, dirt, whatever down in the tube along side of the ball and not being able to pull it out to tip it over, just keep the ball peice in the cab with you. Then your just left with a small square hole in the middle of your bed. If you have to haul sand or something like that just cut a small peice of plywood that fits between the wheel wells and just lay it in there.

The shop i work at sells, rents and services ag equipment, trailers, construction equipment and We install B&W's at our shop. B&W is by far the best hitch on the market, i broke two (2) Hitches before we started selling the B&W. 60K towing miles so far on the b&w with no problems. my dad has one on his 09 dodge with about 17K miles towing with no problems.

I anstalled one on my Ag teachers truck. four months later I see the ball in the bed of the truck and I asaked him why its not in the hole, he told me he wanted a level bed, so I told him that the whole point of have a turnover ball is to flip it over and have a level bed. Lets just say hes not the brightest.

My boss puts a tractor wheel weight over has ball in the winter for added wieght, and the ball helps from sliding around.

I have a another freind who has one that made a mount so he could bolt his spare tire to the ball and not have it fly through the rear window if in a wreck. countless possibilitys with them.

Don't they make nifty winches under the rear of trucks to hold the spare tire up out of the way and out of the bed of the truck?

do you really want to get under a truck to get that out, when you can just put it in the bed? My spare has only been under neith once, thats when i bought the truck, first flat i put it in the bed. Kind of a pain in the ass trying to lift a tire with one hand and get that thing out from the center of the wheel. plus those things break and can get somtimes get stuck. Dont have Triple A when your out in a field.

I'd much rather go under my truck to get the spare then give up bed space. And luckily in almost 4yrs I've never needed one (knock on wood)
