Looking to buy another truck. Will be buying used. Looking at 1500 crew cab, around 2005, 2006. Want to keep it as factory as possible.

What years have a FULLY integrated trailer package. Will be towing a 15ft enclosed motorcycle trailer with electric brakes, and do not want to be messing around with aftermarket controlers.

    Thanks guys.

    I haven't heard of one in a 1500.
However they didn't start putting them in until the new body style 07 or later. Not sure so either way you have to mess with a brake controller.
However if you get a Tekonsha Prodigy or P3 you can also get a harness. Plugs in under the dash and into the controller. Should have one fuse to plug in under the hood and mount the controler. That's it.
Here are some pics for you.

    Re: Fully Integrated Towing

Hmm. I have the one in the second picture in my 2005 2500HD. Just hoping to keep things as clean and factory as possible. Factory is just so much nicer. I was looking at trucks the other day, and remember see a few like the one below. Cant remember if they were 1500 or 2500. I'm sure it was the nnbs though. Maybe just keep the controller that I have, but always seemed to have problems with it. And it wont run the stereo in my trailer, all the ford integrated ones seem to work beauty.

I don't think any brake controller will run a stereo.

Brake controller dosen't have anything to do with the sterio.
That would be the power wire to the trailer, should also be the battery charging wire. (if you don't know) the break away system. Cable to the box on the tounge. The box is a battery, if/when the trailer falls off the truck the cable pulls the pin out of the box. That powers the brakes from the small battery on the trailer.
The other source would be the taillight power. Not great for something like a radio, but for a light in a cargo trailer alright. Just have to have the lights on for it to work.

For sure only in the NNBS, '07 and newer, and I agree that I believe it is only avaliable in the HD's.

What controller do you have now? How old and how much did you pay?
    What problems did you have?
If you have braking problems I wouldn't doubt if it's just a cheap controller, which would be a timed controller, which are just junk. They shouldn't be sold period.
The two I posted pics of are both (well just had it in my head) but more or less they sense the slow down of the truck, and apply the trailer brakes accordingly. Timed does it by a measured time. So if you have to slam on the brakes cause a kid ran out in front of you, your waiting the the controller to ramp up the brakes from none to full on a set time. (stupidest controller ever made)
The other option (best) is a controller that taps into the brake line. This will sense the brake pressure and control the brakes accordingly. These are the most expensive, but well worth it.
For the average person if I remeber correctly an inertia controlled brake controller is just fine.
Either way a brake controller is not something to be cheap about.

    Re: Fully Integrated Towing

Bought a plug and play unit for my truck.

    Plugs in under the dash.
I didnt have to run a fused power wire.

    Re: Fully Integrated Towing

I have the controller in the second picture you posted kcb37. It's been awhile since I've used it, just never seemed to work right, or maybe it because I'm comparing it to the factory ford ones. It did always have a small delay between me braking and the trailer braking.

I don't know why, but when I hook the trailer up to a ford, with factory trailer brake, the stereo, in the trailer, runs fine. So this would mean that the gm's are not charging the trailer battery also?

Just to clear things up, the integrated controller is available in the nnbs 1500's. I've been truck shopping lately and that is one of the features that's a must have for me lol.

there is a gain setting usually you can play with that

depending on the year of the gm your talking about there is a fuse or wire thats got to be installed to make that 12v aux. pin hot to power your break away batt and radio
