The police department I work at has finally decided to get rid of our current vehicle graphics when we purchase our next bunch of patrol Tahoes in the coming year. This is a huge blessing because our current designs look horrible. The department has opened it up to suggestions from us, but since most vehicle graphics retailers only have examples of their graphics on Crown Vics it's hard to get any ideas of what would look good. So, I'm hoping some of the photoshop talents here can help me out and design some good-looking examples for a police Tahoe to give us some ideas. For the department name you can just use "CITYNAME" or whatever (for anonymity sake I'd rather not post which city I work for, sorry). I've included a pic of a Tahoe below that's been edited to look like a police Tahoe for you to use as a blank slate. If you need some ideas or inspiration here are a few police vehicle graphic sites:

Thanks in advance, and I'm curious to see what ya'll come up with.

Now this isn't an edit request that comes along everyday.
What colors are you running now and would you like to stay with them? If not, what options are under consideration or is anything game? Also, what sort of badges does your department wear? The star type like Lowdown used or the shield type? What are the thoughts on using a two-tone scheme beneath the graphics? I'm asking because it would help me make the graphics better suited to your force.

Wow lowdown, for a "quick" attempt that looks pretty damn good.
Chuggernaut, our current scheme is white Tahoes with decals that are primarily light blue, with medium blue lettering and black accents, and all of the text is in cursive (bleh). Just about everyone I know wants completely different looking decals because the cursive and the light blue combine to make one awful-looking design. To give you an idea the squad below has a very similar design to the current one on our Tahoes (but ours looks even worse IMO).
What are we looking for? Basically something that stands out on a white Tahoe, has a sharp and clean look to it, and looks professional. Decals consisting mostly of a few of the following colors could work: black, medium to dark blue, gold, or gray; but those are just suggestions. Of course the limited use of a wide variety of other colors as needed is fine (ie, to do a full-color badge like lowdown did). One thing I forgot to mention is that it most likely will need to have the "POLICE" text big enough to span across both doors for visibility reasons, but there'd still be room for the badge or some other graphic if you wanted to add it towards the front of the front doors. Other than those rough guidelines pretty much anything's game; although a complicated or extremely graphic-intensive design probably wouldn't be a good idea because that'd likely increase cost, add clutter, and make it not as immediately recognizable as a police car. But I'm open to any ideas you've got, so throw them out there.
Our badge is oval; this one is very similar to ours in design and finishes and could be used for the design.
As far as the two-tone scheme, if you're referring to the classic black & white look, that's not a possibility, even though I think that makes a great looking squad car. It was made clear that a two-tone paint job wouldn't be approved, so it's restricted to white, or possibly a light gray or silver (although even that might be pushing it).
Sweet. I'm glad my Interceptor Tahoe didn't have the markings.![]()

That looks good with the badge on it like that.
As much as I like lifted trucks I can't imagine trying to use one for police work. The ones we've got now can get to be a handfull when you have to push them (suspension and whatnot is all stock), which is why we're looking forward to these new ones with the police package and the slightly reworked suspension and lower stance.
Wait a minute, for a public relations tool or a DARE car that lifted one would be great...hmm, maybe I'll have to see if the chief would go for a little modification to one of our outgoing ones. Some PDs have drag racers and lowriders, why can't we have a police Tahoe with a 9" lift and some 36" mud tires?![]()

Damn, Lowdown is already off playing with the thing...
I was going to borrow his background, but all I really needed were the lights. I'll upload the full version when I get a chance from home.

Wow, ya'll are great with those edits. I appreciate it, the more choices we have to submit the better the chance is we'll end up with a good looking design. I'm still open to any other designs if anyone else wants to take a shot. Thanks again guys.
