Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself and tell you about the project my son talked me into.
We live in Spring Hill about 40 miles north of Tampa. My son is 14 1/2 and he wanted a 73-87 C-10 shortbed for his first ride. We found a 87 for $450.00. My wife said it was a pile of junk but I see what it could become. We have 1.5 years to work on it. The tranny was bad (had to tow it home) it has surface rust, a dent in the right rear, and the only rust holes are in the kick panels where they meet the floor pan. The truck is about 90% disassembled.
We are doing a complete frame off restoration and here is a short list off what my son wants to do.
4.5/6 LMC drop
18" wheels
Tangier orange\Black for paint
Bucket seats with a custom center console
He wants a LS1 but I say a vortec V6 w\4l60e tranny (300+ hp is a little to much for a new driver).
I will start a topic under projects once we start on the assembly.
Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
