So last Tuesday I bought a 95 Silverado 1500 for $3000 with a rebuilt engine and a different transmission both with about 100,000 on each. Took it for a test drive. Drove and Ran really good. Has some cancer on the Rocker Panels and Cab Corners and the Box. It's first my truck so I really like it but it's turning into more than a project than I thought. I bought it Tuesday and drove it two days no problem but discovered it has a problem with the fuel injection and doesn't want to run right sometimes but thats not to big of deal but we decided to take it mudding on Thursday(Why not it has a 4" Rancho Lift and 35" Mickey Thompsons) seemed just fine after that. The next morning on the way to school I was going to stop and my brakes didn't work I ended passing a school bus in the dirt and got a $326 fine for doing that(Don't worry though the cop said it should get thrown out because I really didn't have a choice) so I get to school pull it in the Auto Shop and took the front tires off only to discover the wheel bearings are so wore out they pushed the hubs out causing the brakes not to line up so they front ones wouldn't work. So thats the story now it's sitting in my driveway waiting for me to buy new wheel bearing/hub assemblies to fix it.

Now besides this whole fun thing this is what I plan on doing to it by the end of Summer.

Replace the rocker panels, cab corners, and box and repainting it all to Cherry Red Metallic.
Adding another leaf to get rid of the dreaded Chevy sag in the Rear End
Rebuilding the Whole Engine and Installing a Cam

Any other Ideas on the Project?

I replaced the wheel hub assemblies finally. Runs and stops great. Any ideas on what to do I'm thinking of doing a different grill.

Nice man! Looks like a good start you got going. I'll be watching this one for sure. Make sure to check out the Wisconsin Members thread. Just click the link in my sig.

Do you know what gears you have? I suggest 4.56's or 4.88's. Other things you could do would be lights, either tinted, or aftermarket. Headlights would not be a bad idea either. Debadge/Demold it and take off the rocker chrome when you replace your cabcorners. Other than that, I don't really have any ideas. Maybe ditch the visor?

Oh, what did you mean by replacing the grill? The whole grill assembly, or installing a billet grill? If your going to replace the whole grill assembly, I'll take that one off your hands. I'm looking for one just like that.

I have no clues on gears all I know is that I plan on redoing them soon. I want to do a billet grill not the whole assembly. Also I got new leaf springs for both sides and hopefully will have time to do them this weekend.

    Good looking truck too.

Not to thread jack, but dirtyhick, do you have any bigger pictures of your truck? You have the wheel, tire and suspension set up I'm thinking about going with on mine.

    nice looking trucks, guys.

I wanna run 35's on my 88 and I'd like to have a visor on mine like the one pictured above on the white truck.

Better Pic. I'm running 35"s but I need new ones the front ones are about bald the back ones are getting there. I like the visor but I kinda wish mine had the lights.

yea truck looks great. I kinda like the thicker lund visors, that looks like the solar visor the sale, it's thinner and more curvy then the older ones.

I like the wheels and lower trim you got on it too. I got that same lower trim to go one mine.

I'd like a lift like yours, but a BL and crank is more what I'd have to do.

I don't know if you have checked before but it looks like those chrome rockers may be covering some big rust issues

Yeah it's pretty much gone but for now it looks good as long as you aren't really short or don't get to close. It's going to have to wait a little while though this summer I plan on rebuilding the whole engine and transmission so It runs and drives really good and buying some good All Terrain Tires for it then will come fixing the rust on it.

What are your plans transmission wise? With the tires and unknow gear size, I recommend a some what built up transmission. Before you do anything, I think you should regear it.

I know nothing about gears so would you shed some light or show me a thread about them(As in like what I need to buy and install). I plan on sticking to 35"s.

4.56's if you do a lot of highway and some off roading. 4.88's if you do a lot of city driving and off roading. As the saying goes "Don't fear the gear". Lower gearing (Numerical Higher) is always better. I suggest 4.56's or 4.88's with 35's

    Re: 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4

I was thinking 4.56's that would be good on the way to school I average 60 miles an hour so they are still high enough. What do I need to buy to swap them out and any threads around that show you how?
