    hood differences? 73-80

i dont recall ever seeing a separate part number or listing for a year or model specific hood for any 73-80, but i know i've seen them before... my 77 K20, the 79 K20 i had, the 79 K10 that i had, and my 80 K2500 all have this style hood...

and i know that i've seen this style before.

whats the deal with the extra style lines on the front of my hoods? kinda stumps me, though now that i think about it, my 77 does have some 78-79 parts on it, maybe these hoods are 79/80 specific? i'll be picking up my 79-84 parts catalog tomorrow, but wont have much time to look into this before i leave for a long weekend. anybody got any ideas?

I was going to say the same, but I didn't think it was a production piece. I've never seen one before that thread.

The hoods on both my '79 and my '77 are just plain - no added detail.

    Re: hood differences? 73-80

I just did a pile of Google Image searches and found several trucks from 73 - 80 with those exact hoods (second pic). I'm not sure about trim levels, but they definitely appeared on Blazers, Chevys and GMCs during those years. If I saw other hoods, they were cowl-induction style or modified in some way. All others looked like the one GreaseDog posted (second pic).

I couldn't find any like the blue truck.

    Re: hood differences? 73-80

I just learned a few weeks ago in THIS thread that there is indeed a difference in the 73-80 hoods. The 79 and 80 hoods had ridge on the front and the older ones were smooth.

this is correct. I prefer the one with the added detail myself.

In my recollection of having seen these trucks over the years, I've seen mainly the style like on my truck, with a few notable exceptions of the other style pictured above on your truck.

    Cheers,

yeah, i'm well aware of the difference between the 73-80 hood, and the 81+. read the post, and look at the differences in the pictures of 73-80 hoods that were posted, you'll clearly see what i'm talking about.
