    fuel pressure regulator 6.0

    hello new guy here,i have a question.
    where is the fuel pressure regulator on a 2005 chevy silverado 2500hd with a 6.0???? i looked quick and its not on the fuel rails where i was told it would be.any help would be great

    Yep, I believe it's returnless. Manufactuers went to a returnless when engine compartment heating of fuel screwed with the vapor pressure when running the evap self tests.

    thanks guys,now i have to find another reason why my milage is 8 mpg

    Because you have an HD with a 6.0?
    Do you have any mods (lift, big/heavy tires, etc)?

    Do you have any engine codes?
    How many miles are on it?
    When was the last time it had a good tune up?

    never had a tune up that i know of
    i bought this truck about 5 months ago. when i picked it up i was getting 13mpg and 10 towing,then a code came up engine knock sensors. so i had them replaced at a dealer,after this the bad gas milage came

    I'd start by doing a full tune up. Here are some suggestions.

    I usually start be running some seafoam. Its a upper engine cleaner, just pull the PVC out of its port on the back of the drivers side cylinder head and let the vacuum line slowly sip at a cup of seafoam. Be sure that the engine is at operating temp and when it has sipped through the last of the seafoam go turn the engine off for about 10 mins then fire it back up. A lot of white smoke will pour out of the tailpipe.

    Spark plugs next, don't seafoam after you change the plugs, it can foul them on rare occasion. TR55's are made be NKG the same co. that makes the stock ones and work very well in my expirence)

    filters
    If the trucks not an 2003+ its probably got an inline fuel filter on the driver side frame rail, if you have one replace it. Be sure to use flare wrenches so it doesn't strip the nuts, and pull the fuel pump relay and crank the engine so that there's not pressure in the line. A little fuel its pour out so have a rag handy. If you're truck is a 03 or newer, your filter is in the tank and wasn't designed to be replaced.

    Oil filter when you change the oil

    Air box filter

    If you're not already using it switch over to a synthetic oil like mobile 1 or amsoil, I run 5w-30, but now they have 0w30, which is forumlated for advaced fuel economy, or so they say. Its defiantly worth the switch if you are using conventional.


    Also get some electrical parts cleaner and clean the primary sensors. In particular, the MAF which is clamped in-between the intake hose and the filter box (hose it down but don't touch the element its extremely delicate), the IAC which is held onto the side of the tb with two star-bit screws, be careful taking it out its very delicate and don't touch the pintel (the part the moves), while your at it clean the tb with some of the cleaner and a rag, there'll be a ring of carbon deposits around the blade just hose it down and wipe it clean.

    It may be slightly reluctant to start after the seafoam or getting the cleaner down the tb because the fumes aren't terribly flamable, just give it a little gas.

    Just some suggestions, my 2500HD CC gets decent mileage so its not just the fact that its an HD.
