K20 with 6 inches of lift fitting 37's?

I am asking if this is very common. A buddy of mine has a K10, he put 8 lug axles under and it has 6 inches of lift all spring lift. Well he fits 37's under it no problem what so ever, I plan on doing the same to my K (Essentially making it a K20) and was wondering if its common for 6 inches of lift in this manned is common for clearing 37's? Cause I want to run a big tire most the year then throw on some 35's for the Lokal Yokal pulls. Cause I love me some big tires!

Could you guys kindly give me a idea of what the rims specs would have to be for me to run 37's? Much appreciated.

I wouldnt run any less than a 37 with 6" of lift on an old squarebody truck. Hell, Ive seen 44's on a K10 with 6" of lift.

4.5" backspacing? On a SFA truck? I know my wheels with 4.5" backspacing wont clear the steering on my D44 front axle, Id have to run at least a 1" wheel spacer to fit them.

Well, considering you can run 33s with no lift, 37s should fit with 6 inches of lift no problem.

yep, 37's should clear on a 6" lift with no issues. you say your buddy is running them with no problem on his K20...ask him what his wheel backspacing is...lol. you won't have any issues though bud...oh, and post pics!

Re: K20 with 6 inches of lift fitting 37's?

I had a K5 GMC Jimmy back in the 80's, with 4"lift and 35s, and it looked good.
But before installing the lift it looked way stuffed and rubbed some. Wheels where 8"s and the backspacing was what it used to be in those years.
Guess if you get some wheels with little offset 35's may fit with a couple " lift, but it will still look stuffed IMHO....and you want to check out they do clear the steering parts...
