If I remember right, it was a 3" ducting w/ 4" Fernco Clamps.
Insure you sand the edges after you cut it...don't want metal chips possibly getting through your filter.
K&N is definitely recommended also.
Others have said they insulated theirs, but I don't seem to have any hot air issues.
I do live in San Diego, though and the air here doesn't get very hot anyway.
