Re: Chassis Tech / Aim products
having just read all the posts in this forum i thought I would add my 2cents.
Without knowing anything about SHAIM's rep I ordered a compressor kit from them last year. the 3/4 horse 100% duty cycle DC5000 kit with the 3 way valves and manifold.
heres my personal experience:
I called aim the sales rep was fairly decent guy and listened to all my questions and answered them fairly honest i guess.
when I gave my order I told him what I wanted and the price quoted in truckin mag. he than procedes to tell me thats the "chassis tech ad" wholesale price and that it was wrong it was a "wholesaler" price....lol I said NO thats the listed price and no where on the page did it say wholesale! he then agrees with me and I get it for the quoted price. by this time I'm thinking the ole bait and switch!
ok onto the next thing
I need hoses and fittings no problem there as a matter of fact he talked me into upgrading to 3/8 instead of 1/4 (same price and the since the valves were 3/8 i figured what the heck)
I also ordered a remote shaved handle kit no prob.
other than the "little price discrepency" sweet transaction.
UPS day!!! ok my package arrives!!!! woo..hoo!!!!!
on inspection I notice a large hole in the bottom of the box!
and upon opening the box I see loose fittings rolling around in the box.....
I inspect each box inside the big box and see everything is ok
only one thing is missing my check valve! but I did end up with twice the fittings that I had ordered!!!!!!but I wasn't charged for them!
well I give aim a call back and get to talk to the same rep ( i had to call a few times "he was busy or at lunch"...
I tell the rep Everything was ok but there was a hole in the shipping box and my checkvalve was not in the box.. no prob he says and ships one to me which I recieved within 3 days
on to the install:
upon reading their directions I soon figure out that theyre WAAAAYYY off they forget to mention that you have to wire the pressure switch to a relay this resulting in me burning out the switch!!!
the valves had to be flipped on the manifold! the install shows them one way and I had to flip them over 180 degrees.
but other than that everything works great!
but I do have one more issue the valves on my back setup are starting to leak down this sucks I know but I didn't put a water trap on the system till a later date so I write this one off to inexperience not their valves (how can I prove faulty valves)
I will say this their compressor is a horse I have had it up to 200 psi!!!!due to no pressure switch and me leaving it on too long...lol and the 150 psi rated valves handles the pressure!!!!
this system is now over a year old and has survived its first winter just had a couple of stuck valves when it got below freezing here.
I havent installed the remote handle kit yet I am going to suicide the doors in the future so I dont know how well or if the kit will even work yet.
but I will say this after reading this I don't think I will be ordering anything else from them! I am going to buy my suicide hinges from jason at suicidedoors.com. a little more expensive but his reputation is impeccable!!!!!!!!!! after seeing all the posts reccomending him on this board and at streetsourcemagazine.com!
sorry for the long post but I had to tell my story too...lol
