Have you gotten any answer to this? I get the same thing with my 5 sp but between about 3000 to about 3600 rpm. I"ve changed ignition parts, upgraded to K&N air filter, changed the fuel filter and Seafoamed the intake. One response I had was to check the gap of the plugs and to try setting them to .046" - .048". I haven't had a chance to try this yet. I'll let you know if it helps.
