Question Re: Painting Interior Pieces Guide (hopefully)
Here is something that has always been a challenge for me. GM interior color codes....This is not about painting, it's about finding the right color pairs.

I've been repainting interior parts for years using Dupot Vinyl paint. GM provides a color code like 24 for the Dark Blue in my 91 K1500. The problem is that code 24 is *two* colors. A dark and a darker. My code is 24C for the cloth trim and 24I for the color combination.

So, what two colors are 24I? If you look at the PPG charts for 91, there are 24CN, 24DN, and 24EN. Sure, it's all code 24 but which pair?

I've run into this with many other color pairs (62, 64, 66 79). In the end I have to get samples of the three (or sometimes more) and figure it out.

The color chips aren't good enough to use for comparison especially when the colors are "somewhat dark blue", "kinda dark blue", "dark blue", "really dark blue" and "darker than the first dark blue"....

If you go to the dealer they will tell you "it's 24". Thanks. No one at GM could tell me either. I think this is one of the secrets that keeps GM in power.

So, has anyone figured out a way to nail down the color pair from the single code without buying a sample of the paint? The paint store I frequent is great about helping but in the end it's a test and match. It shouldn'y have to be that way.
