Well since these are merely the pics I am working BY, and not my actual pods (I will be posting them later today). Okay with that being said...
The black plastic is ABS plastic and is needed to fill the gap a bit just where the door pod meets the bottom of the dash when you close the door. Its necessary to recess the mdf a bit so the pod doesnt hit the door when shut. BUT you will have a large gap, hence the plastic helps fill that gap some, then its all smoothed off with body filler. When I get more in depth with this build you will understand more with the pics I take.
