This is my first post, so be easy on me if I make a mistake. I am working on a '01 Silverado w/ GT5 & G80 codes. Dealer print-out says 4:10 with
detroit Locker. Take it apart and find the governor with broken teeth, spider gears chewed to pieces. Purchase replacement diff & pinion (Eaton) from local differential shop. ($925.00) Go to press pinion bearings onto shaft with the pinion carrier. Yolk WILL NOT fit onto new shaft. Take everything apart to see where I goofed. Start checking everything with a micrometer. It all checks out. Re-assemble. Same thing.
Dis-assmble. Look. Nothing. Re-assemble old shaft w/ old bearings and carrier. Works. Third time I dis-assemble new shaft and bearing notice witness marks on the new shaft. Forward bearing is not seating down entirely when the carrier begins to get a little stiff to turn. All bearing & race #s match. Anyone have a diagram available anywhere. I have already searched the threads and found none. Doesn't mean they are not there, I just didn't find them. Any help or advice any where???!!!
