Well I have a 2000 Chevy 4x4 , Z71 that I bought new. Then added a Rancho lift kit , 35" M/T tires , Weld wheels , Warn Winch and about every other performance option avail. ( hypertech,K&L, ect.).
After a few thousand miles = the tick started , then the knocking started.
Today the truck has 155,000 miles on it and still "knocks like rocks".
GM gave me a 100,000 mile warranty on the motor.
I for one, dont think the owner should have to preform piston decarbonization on a vehicle , after paying megabucks for it. But depends on how proud you are of your ride.
My problem= decision . I want a new motor for my truck . The replacement will be a GM CRATE engine (new 5.3 - 0 miles). I wonder what the chances are that this new engine will develop the same problems ?
Scarey situation - too bad a 350 c.i. wont fit ( 383) yea! NO !
