prob the only reason yer locking diff doesnt work is because you maybe went thru a curve and got on it hard and lit up the inside wheel.atleast thats what happen in my transam.but the reason that happens is because GM used Auburn diffs through the early years then changed to the torson t2 in the latter 01 yrs.the auburn is a cone clutch system and once it doesnt do its job and you end up burning one tire it over heats the cone and never works right again until you rebuild it,the torsen t2 is a torque sensing unit and has a gear system, much better,it never wears out. when a tire starts spinning within a milisecond it kicks out the two gears in the case and locks the two axles.
