Re: OBS window motor replacement

I just did the drivers' window on my 97. What a pain, but exaultation to have it completed.

Notes:
1. The panel comes off easily. Just pull from the bottom because it sits in the groove at the top.
2. Buy the motor/regulator together. It was $70 vs. $60 for the motor, and saved a lot of hassle trying to drill out the rivets on the motor.
3. I removed the entire inner door frame. It required removal of the pulls for the lock and door handle. This was pretty easy, but be sure not to bend the rods.
4. Mount the regulator to the inner frame before you put it in the door. Keep the window about 3/4 of the way up, and slide the inner frame around to line up the roller wheels with the window. This takes some time and patience, and be SURE to get the lock/handle rods BEHIND (towards the inner frame) the regulator assembly. I had to disassemble the door a couple times to get it right.

It took about 2 HRS worth of labor, but I saved $250 and learned some stuff in the process. It would take about 1/2 the time now, but lets hope I never have to do this again.

Good luck.
