Other than the smell, and chemicals used in some bedliners, some would work. Others, on the other hand, would not work as well. The ones that dry hard do not work well at all. They tend to be about the same as the stock panel, as it's still producing resonance from panel on panel vibration. The ones that are more rubberized will work. Personally, if I were doing something of that magnitude, I'd use rubberized undercoating spray. You can get it at an auto body store in quantities to spray with a pneumatic sprayer, or you can go for the rattle can variety and buy several cans from Bondo-Marhyde. I have used it in several installs as a top layer over mat dampener, or in hard to reach places.
