That's not quite true though. Yes, the diablo does typically set a truck up with a better tune than most other handhelds, but it still will not go anywhere near the level of complexity of a custom tune. Where you're adjusting a "fuel curve" by x%, where is that fuel being changed? Is it in the VE table (which has a few hundred data points), the MAF calibration (another 80+ data points) or is it in PE mode?
Same with timing. The primary timing table(s) (High and low octane) have over 500 data points each, and increasing the entire table by x degrees isn't ideal.
EFILive is free to download and there are a few tunes that come with it to inspect. Check it out and see just how much there is that can be changed on a typical Gen-III truck.
