In answer to the other questions... unless you are submerging the truck under water, nothing really gets wet on the dual battery kit. But if you can justify using that one instead, do it. What's the phrase? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?
Two wires run through the firewall (from the switch) and go to the solenoid. So they really don't get wet.
The other wires running to and from the solenoid are for the starter and main battery and then to the aux battery. I suppose the starter wire could get wet depending on how deep the water you are fording is.
