If you go Dmax you will need some tranny mods probably stage 2, and from what I've read even though the Cummins would have a manual behind it you would still need to beef that one up as well. The Duramax will be much more fun to drive and with the mods you listed will walk all over that 12v. The Cummins are easy to mod when it come to hard mods (physical parts) but the Dmax can make ungodly amounts of power especially with the PPE. You must also remember it takes approximately 150hp more for a comparable manual to run with an auto, maybe even more once the auto has been modified and retuned. Just make sure if you get a Dmax to look at an 03 or newer model.
