more boost does the same thing, more air, less unburnt fuel. simple. you can make a boost controller with stuff from the hardware store for around $10- $15. but then you need the $50 boost guage to go with it, still fairly cheap, and its nice to have the guage anyway.
edit: nevermind didnt realize its an 05, the lly has the vvt. but it does have an egr that can be blocked for better milage. just examples of cheaper ways to pick up mpg/power.
