My Dad and my work both have Durimax 1 tons back ordered because of this axle problem.
Kind off sucks. 
1996 k1500 Short Bed Reg Cab 4.3 5spd
1.5" lift. blocks, crank, & diff drop.
Fenders 37.5" front 38" rear.
Need bigger tires!
