You can definitely use clay on the wheels. You can also use it on glass as well :) As always, try to use a clean piece of clay if possible.

will a standard shampoo take the previous wax off though? I used mothers fx wax which is more of a quick detailer but dont know if it will be removed with a simple wash or will it require more muscle??
