on stock 29" tires, that's not enough gear. that is where the weak reputation for the 700R4 comes from, GM grossly undergearing them, causing them to fail prematurely. with the 31" tires that you're having put on, a set of 3.73 gears would improve the life of the drivetrain, and possibly pick up some milage too.
