Re: help with 88-91 front converstion
Last I checked, domestics still beat imports overall at domestic content. However, Canada is included in domestic content for some reason, and there are some cars that are exceptions to the rule, like the Ford Fusion or something like that. But if it comes down to it, I guess I'd rather have something made in Mexico than China, and Mexico is where Ford has alot of the Fusion stuff made.
As far as parts, you're right that almost everything not original or NOS is from China or Taiwan, but there are a few exceptions. C.A.R.S. stamps their own sheetmetal here in the US, for example, but I don't know if they make anything for our trucks. They do make 68-72 Nova stuff though, so I'll be buying from them if I ever have to replace vintage sheetmetal.
You gotta be on your toes if you want to avoid buying stuff from overseas. I just read on another message board that alot of "American" Racing Equipment's wheels are now made in China. F*ck that! I'll buy used stuff and restore it like people did years ago before I buy stuff made overseas.
As far as Republicans, bio-diesel, oil, and everything else, the Democrats are just as bad IMO - they all want to sell us out to the highest foreign bidder, and I hate them for it.
