if it's a virgin 400, I'd go in increments of 406, 408, 412 ci...no need to bore a good 400 block all the way for a few cubes.
8.0's in 1/8 isn't that great....buddy had a 412 in a '64 malibu, could drive it anywhere, even 40 mile highway trips, click off 11.40's all day on motor.
