Thanks to several of you, I just called the GM Customer Service Line (call center happens to be right here in Austin!) and a real nice guy told me that they would indeed provide me with the 6yr, 100k warranty at no charge. I am not the original owner of this truck either. In addition, he said that it was not essential that the vehicle be under factory warranty.
All I have to do is to visit the dealer who will confirm that said vehicle has the 'knock', then request a repair order with your name and address. Then you call back the GM rep (gave me his full name and personal extension) and let me know where you went. That's it. He will contact the dealer for confirmation and will then mail you the new warranty.
I gotta say, I haven't been this impressed with customer service in a long time. They're basically giving you the same warranty that comes with the Duramax. And it doesn't just cover a failure that is related to CSK; it covers any engine component failure.
That said, my friend who's a mechanic at a Chevy dealership (he's got an '02 2500HD CC 4x4 w/ 8100 and Allison) says the CSK has not produced one failure related to the knock or pistons. It's just more of a nusiance than anything.
