Henry is exactly right. Call GM Customer Service (you can find the number on the GM website) and explain to them the problem you had. I had a Chevy Service Advisor try to do the same thing. He said something like "yea, we'll listen to it, but it's normal and within GM operating guidelines." Gave me real attitude. I call Cust Service back and they conference called me to the dealership.
To make matters worse, I had to leave the truck overnight (reasonable, since it needed to be cold) and I wasn't there when they listened to it the next morning. When I picked it up, they said there was nothing wrong with it! So they had a service guy pull it around front for me. I immediately shut-off the engine and grabbed the Service Advisor. I said "listen to this" and when I said that, another customer and her Service Advisor heard me and turned around. I started the truck ('02 2500HD 6.0) and we ALL listened. Nothing happened for about 15 seconds--then it started! It was GREAT! The woman who was there with her Suburban says "Oh, I can hear that!" and the other Service Advisor nodded his head in agreement.
Anyway, he quickly, and sheepishly, changed the ticket to reflect that he heard the CSK. That was about 2 weeks ago. A few days ago, my letter from GM arrived informing me of my 6 year, 100k warranty on ALL engine components!
Persist my man! Don't let the jerks at the dealership take advantage of you.
