I bought an Autometer Lunar gauge and a gauge mount to install a trans temp gauge in my OBS, but I was looking around tonight and can't really see a place to put it. If I try to put it within the instrument cluster hood, it blocks too many gauges or indicators. I don't want to put it on my dash 'cause it looks goofy. If I put it under the dash, it's difficult to see. I tried it on the A-pillar, but the mount that I have puts it at an ackward viewing angle. Does anyone have any pics of gauges installed using the A-pillar pods? Any other ideas?

Did you move the radio just to install the gauge? If not, what prompted you to relocate the radio?

If you look to the right, you will see my Alpine head unit :D

Radio came first, tranny gauge followed later on :D

I know we've gone way off topic now, but what was wrong with the stock radio location? Seems like a lot of trouble to move it.

you cant mount a new radio in the stock location it has to be moved to where 454 has his now, then you buy a radio delete pocket to go where your factory radio is, looks better as well

as for your tranny temp gauge why not get a triple or dual or even single pod for the pillar?

get a radio with a remove, thats what i did, works out great, and it actually isnt that hard to change while driving

That's what I'm thinking, that's why I was looking for installed pictures so I could see the angle and appearance.

Basically, I don't like the look of the a-pillar pods. They are in my way and I have my tach on that side of the dash.

I already have a remote for my stereo.

You have to move the radio to where mine is now.

i hated the stock radio, looked to cluttered in that location with all those buttons, so i got my sony with remote love it, not out of reach like most would think

as for the gauge, if your tach is down low, i kind of like the idea of mounting the gauge semi high pointing down, not in your way and most people wont notice it

you could always mount the gauge in your ash tray and just glance at it every once in a while

Most car guys will install a dual or triple guage cluster under the dash in the center angled towards the driver a bit. Before I do any serious towing with my Tahoe I plan on putting a tranny temp and oil temp guage in a similar location.

I was thinking of that too, but I'd like to keep the gauge within my line of site when driving. I tried it under the dash but I hit it with my knee on the left and I have the right side reserved for my Air-Lift and Rancho controllers.

Sweet interior CKTA, I don't know that I've ever seen a picture of it before.

Thanks for the pic. It looks like it holds it at just the right angle. It looks like you actually have two radios in yours.

I have a follow up question. When did the interiors change? Mine doesn't look like any of the ones pictured

How about a digital one mounted in ash tray?

I think the interiors changed some in 92 then again in 95.... someone will correct me if I'm wrong :D

slight changes in 92 such as door panels, not any differences on the dash, 95 got a new interior, then again in 99. If you have a 95 or newer, you wont have a radio delete, any aftermarket will be in stock location. pre 95s put aftermarket radios in the cassette hole or some models just had a storage compartment there. reason being is that the stock location isnt large enough for any aftermarket.
