Power windows install in 99+ trucks questions

[GMC HD 4x4]

Ok I did a search and found some of my answers and still have a couple. I have (used) door panels with the stock power windows switches in them, and I have on order ever thing you need in side the door.

Now what I not sure what else I need? :help: and where to get them?
or could I just call a dealer and tell them what Im doing and hope I get a nice guy and answer all my questions........

Check around your local boneyards for wrecked trucks. Should be able to find one with power windows that you can pull the motor, switches, and window tracks out of. Possibly even get the wiring setup for em too.

could i just run a power wire to the motor so when the key is on it works and ground it ?


the dealer said 1200 for a harness so the windows would work right, but he said if it was his truck just run a power wire to them and be done.

Where did you order the power window kit from? It should have all the correct wiring harness with it to make it work.

If you're doing a factory setup, you'd also need to replace the dash harness. The connectors and wires aren't there for the door harnesses. I've seen full power dash harnesses on Ebay for cheap.
