Before you all start raggin' on me about lifting a 2WD vehicle... I want to lift it for 2 reason, first is looks and 2nd is safety. I was watching a Frontline news show that examined Truck vs. Car impacts and how most of the cars tended to drive under the truck in a collision... I figure raising my body a few inches is only gonna help.

I'd like to lift my truck about 3" and put some 285/75 R16's on... I think the stock tires are 235's...

What are the biggest tire sizes I can fit on my truck without a body lift? Would the 285's scrape the fenders if I put them on without a body lift? I've only got about 7" of clearance with the roof of my truck and garage... I figure a 3" body lift and 2-3" of more tire would be okay...

Any idea how much hire 285 tires would contribute to vehicle height?

Thanks,
Mark

Who's gonna rag you about lifting your truck? No one here for sure! 2wd's look awesome with a lift and bigger tires! With the right lift you can have more ground clearence up front than a 4wd because you lack the front diff. I think to fit 285's you might have to go higher than a 3 inch body lift though. They make some awesome suspension lifts for your truck. I would look into one of those! Go 6 inches and slap on some 35's!:D

285's should fit with a 3" body lift, if you keep factory wheels. I dont know if they would fit if you got aftermarket 16x8's.

Thanks guys,

I wanted a body lift mainly because its cheaper than a suspension lift and I'm not planning on any off road driving... I also really dont want more than a 3" lift because I only have about 7 more inches of clearance with my garage. I dont want to keep my truck outside, I want it garage kept...

My friend has a stock Z71 and he has the 285 tires which look nice, although his truck sits up a little higher because of the suspension.

As for poking fun at a lifted 2WD, I agree they look good, but I also read a few posts on FSC where people seemed kinda high on themselves that they had a lifted 4WD and couldnt understand why anyone would want to lift a 2WD? I was just being defensive I guess.

Thanks,
Mark

285's should fit w/o the body lift, i think. with a 3" body they should fit just fine, but you would need to keep stock wheels, or go with 16x8s with stock backspacing

From what I hear the best 2wd lift is Fabtech. But raising it will make it more top heavy by the way. Just thought I'd let ya know.

Mark nothing wrong with lifting a 2WD truck. Personally I like the look of a lifted 2WD and alot of people out here do it. 285s should clear with just a body lift. If you looking for just a 3" lift I would recommend a spindle lift instead of a body lift. Doesn't show the frame.

My best friend has a 2000 Silverado 2wd. If he tried to run 285's with no lift, he'd tear the hell out of his fenders.

I have a 2002 1500 HD 2WD, will the 285x75x16's fit my rig with no lift and stock rims?

285's will definatly fit with the body lift (3"). They will mount up to your truck with no lift but will look stuffed and rub alittle on the wheelliners and maybe the lower bumper valance. Go with the spindle lift.
