what 6 disc changer will fit

I have a 2004 silverado i just purchased and it has the am/fm stock head unit, no tape. i want to know if i can get a 6 disc changer out of another GM vehicle to fit inplace of this AM/FM head unit. does anyone have any part numbers of head units and wiring harness or what ever i need to do this? thank you.

yes you can.. If I were you I would check out ebay because headunits from GM are way expensive. After installing it the headunit will have to be re-programmed by a dealer which shouldn't cost much.

oh by the way i am talking about the 6disc in dash setup. I just want to make sure it can be plugged in to my wiring harness or if i have to change the wiring harness or soemthing.

Since so many people replace them with aftermarkets, ebay should have one that isn't all that expensive. I like the stock look and try to keep it as close to stock looking as I can. In fact, I go out of the way to make it all look stock; however, it doesn't sound stock. :devil: :D Just look around, or maybe someone on this board has the 6-disc and it should hook up with few problems since it is GM to GM. :D

I put one in my 2003 GMC Serria. No problem installing it. I just took out the old radio and plug in the new one. Make sure that when you take it to be unlocked that you also have it reprogamed. This way you will get the unit to work properly with you truck. As far as part numbers, my local dealer worked with me to find the right ones. Hope this helps.

I have an 02 Tahoe and did the 6-disc install before I went aftermarket. All I needed was the cable to connect the two units and that's it. It was plug and play.

The 02's only had the remote 6 disk not the 6 dick in-dash like the 03+

I'm having my dad check on price and delivery for a new and refurbished unit for you...FOB Factory. You will still have to have the vin programmed to it and unlocked by the dealer. I will let you know as information becomes available. (FYI this is what my dad does for a living and as a favor for a fellow FSC member he will sell at his cost...which might still be higher than ebay)

True to a point. The 02 Escalades as well as the 01/02 Denali had a 6-disc in the console. I've got the whole Denali console so it was just plug and play for me. The trucks obviously didn't have this option. It can be retrofitted to fit though...

My dad's price is $350.00 FOB Tulsa, OK for a new unit. Reburbs are not available at this time. 1 week delivery. He just called me back and said the local dealerships are charging customers 600 installed for this unit. OUCH!!!

I was referring to the headunit with the 6 cd changer. Yeah they 6 disk slave units are also available though.
