03 switches compatible with 2002 switches

The power window switches (mirror too) on the doors, are they plug in play, or is modification required?

I imagine that it would take alot of modding as the 03's went to a new wiring system where multiple things go through the same wire to eliminate wires and splices.

Nothing is Impossible, but i would say that is about as close as you could get.:( In the 03-04s they are not just switches anymore, they are actually computers called the DDM (drivers door module) and PDM (passenger door module) and they control all sorts of stuff and have WAY more wires coming out of them than the 99-02 switches.

It isnt impossible, but it isnt plug and play. The new switches dont have illumination and the old ones do, so although the plugs are the same, the pin-outs are different. You can take the switch apart and use the old board with the new switch because the base of the switch is unchanged, but you have to switch the up and down pins because they are then reversed. I have been looking into doing it, if you plug the new ones right in they wont work at all. If you take them apart and use the old boards the up and down is reversed, so its just a matter of switching two wires, they are labled on the board so it should be no problem, I just havent done that yet. Hope this answers your question.

I havent looked into the power mirror, I assume that would work with the old board fine, but power fold would probably not be a viable option without some good modification to the board/switching mechanism.

Unless you're concerned about your kids choking themselves when you leave them unattended, what other reason would there be to switch out illuminated 99-02 switches for non-illuminated funky push/pull 03+ switches?
My parents' 04 Maxima has the push/pull switches and I can't stand 'em.
