is this a good idea? i know about quick-release steering wheels used in nascar and other racing organizations. this seems like a very good theft prevention item, but are there any dangers of them coming off during normal driving? that would really suck.

basically, the setup i was thinking about is summit racing PN#SUM-G7851 and the 5-bolt to 3-bolt pattern adapter, CEE-5078. I'd use a grant wheel, something like GRT-742 or GRT-415

That would be cool if you want to carry around a steering wheel.

well, i prefer the "inconvinience" of carrying around a steering wheel to the "inconvinience" of not having a vehicle at all...

Grant makes an adapter that allows you to remve the wheel and put a locking cap over the steering column.
I had one along time ago and I loved it. Need to get another one.

I had one of the removeable wheel kits on my other car. I remember it being about 100 bucks or so but it was very well built and well worth it.
