Welcome to the "not fun" part of customizing. While the narrator on TV says " the interior was quickly stripped" and shows the completed product, here's the behind the scenes reality of having to do it yourself. :D

WOW, i pulled everything besides the dash out when I got my truck to clean it and put in new carpet, I can appreciate all the work it takes.

I had already pulled the dash and just had the rest above to remove. The carpet was nasty and the previous owner beat the floor to hell from underneath to fit the tranny/engine. I haven't decided what I am going to do to rebuild it. It sure looks like crap.

Doesn't the cab look so choppable ? Ohhhhhh I can't wait to fly into it !!!

It was a 454 with a Turbo 400 and it definitely, DEFINITELY didn't fit. :cussing:

How's that saying go ? "It's just sheetmetal and they make that **** all day long."

How and the hell that not fit? many trucks came from the factory with that same combo such as a 454 SS.

You need to go find that guy who did that:guns:

Yeah that's what I thought too. After I stripped the truck I found the beat up floor and also the tranny crossmember was beat all to crap and needs total replacement. Maybe it flew apart ? Maybe the person installing it was an idiot ? Who knows but that's the cards that were dealt to me. Guess it's my baby now. No biggie. It just gives me an excuse to buy more parts ! :head:

Nope....no motor or tranny. Totally stripped. Plans include a narrowed rearend and a street/strip combo.

Go to www.badassracing.com and I look under "engines and pricing" and then "blown engines" . The one I have in mind is somewhere between the 750-900HP range. That oughta do it :D

As far as the interior....been there, done that! Not fun!:D

The floor pan/trans. tunnel most likely got that way from putting the motor/trans in as one unit and "jockey-ing" it around. He had to be swinging it like mad tho. :D

That looks like a fun project that you have on your hands.:head: :head:

Yes it is ! The only wires I left were the electric window/lock controls from both doors. The steering column is coming out next and I am rewiring the entire truck with a Painless Wiring kit so it has an independent electrical system. That is, after the bed is complete, the top is chopped, the motor is in etc. etc. blah blah blah.

That makes me want to forget about redoing my interior. On the other hand I still really want my 00 z71 interior back.

I was thinking about reinforcing the floor a little bit around the bell housing area. I know a guy that had a clutch fly apart and went through the floor and cut off his right big toe due to crap flying through the floor. I can't quit thinking about it. I would feel horrible if I nailed it and some crap flew apart and hit my wife's leg or something in the passenger seat.

Then again I won't be building junk either. :D

But you never know.

it wont hurt to reinforce it, but the likly hood of that happening is slim to non, i have only heard of two cases where that happened and both were on kit cars with thin sheet metal floors
